Jazz saxophone legend Charlie Parker was born on this day in 1920. In 1994, his legacy was remembered through this sculpture by Robert Graham. Located in Charlie Parker Memorial Plaza, 17th Terrace and Paseo Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri, the bronze bust is inscribed "Bird Lives."
