Waldorf Astoria Hotel
Architect: Schultze and Weaver
Midtown East
This 47-story historical hotel is a New York City landmark, and the roof has always been for those looking to chill in the lap of luxury. In the 30s and 40s, the Starlight Roof, located at the top of the 20-story base, was a gathering place for celebrities and high rollers, and even featured a retractable roof. Today, the 625-feet tall building is topped off with a brick and limestone façade with bronze-clad cupolas sitting atop the two towers.
