Patrick Mahomes and his high school sweetheart, Brittany Matthews have gotten married.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his new wife made the announcement on Instagram, writing, “Mr. & Mrs. Mahomes” with a set of photos from their ceremony.

According to TMZ, the wedding took place in Maui, Hawaii. Mahomes’ younger brother, Jackson was the best man, and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was a groomsman. Kelce’s girlfriend, Kayla Nicole was a bridesmaid alongside Matthews’ high school friends.

The couple has been dating since the 10th grade, having both attended the same high school in Whitehouse, Texas. They now share their 1-year-old daughter, Sterling Skye, who was born in 2021, and who was the ceremony’s flower girl.

Mahomes proposed to his now-wife on her 25th birthday on Sept. 1, 2020—the same year that the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. He asked her to marry him at Arrowhead Stadium with a display of hundreds of white roses.

He later admitted that the proposal was more stressful than playing his first Super Bowl. “Probably proposing, I would say,” he told KCSP 610 Sports Radio when he was asked which was harder. “You don’t think it’s going to be nerve-racking when you’ve been with someone for so long, but before you get on that knee, man, your heart’s racing. I promise you that.”
