Even if the gap year Warriors end up sliding down as far as they possibly could in the lottery (which is here) they’re not going to get an ounce of sympathy from anyone because of it. Even with that said, this would still be a pretty solid pick for Golden State, should they choose to keep it.
Toppin is a bit of a do-everything player that should be able to fit in with the Warriors relatively seamlessly. He needs to improve defensively for sure, but on the offensive end it’s hard to find glaring weaknesses. He won’t need to dominate the ball or need plays run for him to be successful. He’ll also bring athleticism to the court in a way that the aging group of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green may be unable muster in the coming years.
