In front of 19,000 fans at Madison Square Garden, in front of former Duke players, in front of his wife of 42 years, and in front of his mentor Bob Knight, Mike Krzyzewski became the best.

Last night, No. 6 Duke took down Michigan State 74-69 in an early battle between perennial tournament teams at the State Farm Champions Classic in New York City. The win put Coach K at 903, one ahead of Knight, his former coach at West Point. After the game the two basketball legends met on court at the center of a ring of cameras, and Krzyzewski simply told Knight that he loved him as tears welled in his eyes.

It was a classy moment from a one-of-a-kind coach. Over his 35 years of coaching, his team has ended the season with a losing record only four times. He's won four national titles, made 11 Final Fours, and makes the Blue Devils a team to fear year after year.  At 64 years old, the question now becomes whether or not he'll reach 1,000 wins. Unless some crazy scandal shatters Duke (unfortunately, it's never out of the question anymore), we can't imagine that he'll get tired of his gig any time soon. [via ESPN]
