25 Awful Supercar Accidents

Unfortunately for this Ferrari F40, its 80-year-old businessman owner lost control of it and slammed into a tree. The accident happened in Germany near the border of Switzerland. Estimated damage? € 250,000, or about $318,000. Though the car was totalled, the driver was unharmed.

It always seems like the most boring, average cars are victims of these supercars losing control. In this case, the Murci hit a Chevrolet Aveo in Nizhny Novgorod in Russia. Purchased only one month before the accident, the car's engine compartment caught fire and burnt to the ground.

A lot of these accidents were the fault of the owner of the car. Not the case with this special edition Ford GT. There are actually two sides of what happened here: One from the owner and one from the tuner/driver during the accident. The tuner deflected all blame for the accident and made it known that he did not have the insurance to cover any of the crash, from which the car ended up heavily damaged at the bottom of a ravine. Both sources of the news have been since discontinued, so we're unsure of how this ended. Hopefully, the tuner was forced to take responsibility for ruining such a beautiful car.

The Balboni edition Gallardo was built in commemoration of a Lambo test driver and brand ambassador Valentino Balboni. We don't think this is the kind of testing he woud have approved of, however. The driver and passenger, two sisters, hit a Renault Express van, a fire hydrant, and a greenhouse in sequence before fleeing the scene in a Fiat 500. The situation was being investigated for a hit and run.

Still relatively fresh to the road (and probably to a car as powerful as this Porsche), an 18-year-old kid in Poland split his car in two when he hit a pole. He suffered two broken legs and a few other minor injuries.

This accident happened in St. Tropez, France. You know, the vacation spot where really rich people go to hang out on yachts and drive awesome cars. The Veyron, numbered 1/150, apparently ran into the gates of a villa on the Cote d’Azur.

The fireball you see above is a result of a R35 Nissan GT-R crashing into a Golf GTI. The VW didnt take on too much damage, but the GT-R went up to the car Gods in a screen of black smoke. Neither of the drivers were injured.

Why isn't this a Ford F-150 commercial? Imagine how viral it would be if the company's flagship truck easily just rolled over a Ferrari, planting itself on the hood as if to say, "America! Fuck yeah!"

We might say how sad we are about all of these cars getting destroyed, but instances like this are the real tragedies. Fifty-two-year-old William Baranos lost his grip on his Pagani in Watford, England and was killed in the accident. Baranos, who was believed to not be wearing his seatbelt, was thrown out of the vehicle and found 10 feet from the car. The front end and doors were torn off from the impact of hitting a fence. The passenger in the car, a friend's son, walked away from the crash.

Not too many details surfaced about this incident, but the Jag was spotted in Belgium with a pretty beat up driver's side.

Like the majority of these incidents, the speed of this impressive supercar was the source of the crash. The driver was passing somebody at about 125 mph before swerving and hitting a guard rail. According to sources, the damage came out to a jaw-dropping total of more than $500,000.

Two Lambos in Houston were racing when the female driver of this Performante flipped at a high speed. Somehow, neither the driver nor the passenger were seriously injured.

This beautiful 911 GT3 was torn to shreds right in front of spectators at the Nürburgring. 

This is probably the most head-scratching accident on the list. This GT had already been crashed once before, yet the owner still decided to get a kit put on that pushed the horsepower on the car over the 1,000 hump. With that kind of power, the owner proceeded to crash again in Sao Paulo, Brazil, also damaging a Honda in the process. 

Hmm, driving drunk in a Lambo. That could be the single worst idea we've ever heard. The accident happened in a busy spot near a school, but thank goodness nobody was injured.

Again, the driver of this Murci Roadster was pushing the car before the back end swung out and the car hit a center divider. As you can see, the car was totalled. 

Vorajuth Yoovidhaya, the 27-year-old grandson of Red Bull co-founder Chaleo Yoovidhaya, is not going to get away with the horrific crime he committed. He has been charged with running over a policeman and dangling him on the road, breaking the officer's neck and killing him. Initially, the incident was covered up by a lower ranking officer, but Bangkok police chief Comronwit Toopgranjank wouldn't let that stand.

Tragedy struck just last weekend after a day of racing at the Spa Francorchamps. A 63-year-old man from Saint-Ghislain was taking a 15-year-old for a drive in a Ferrari F430 on the E42 motorway in Belgium between Francorchamps and Sart when he lost control and hit a median at a high speed. The car was split in two up to the cockpit, killing both the driver and the passenger.

This Hong Kong driver completely destroyed his Pagani when he hit a tree and a column in a median. Luckily, he walked away uninjured.

Yeah, that pile of ash and scrap metal was once a car. A really beautiful one called an Audi R8 GT, actually. The accident, in which the car violently skidded against the median before bursting into flames, happened hear Dekendorf. The driver was able to escape the car before it caught fire.

Rain, you bitch. Why'd you have to go and ruin two superb pieces of automotive art? The Wiesmann lost traction on a slippery road in Desden and went into oncoming traffic, hitting the 560SL, a limited edition car and one of only 20 in existence. Both drivers and the passenger in the Benz were critically injured in the accident.

There are only 337 Porsche 959s in the world, so this might be the most painful image on this list. A witness said the driver, who was tragically wearing flip-flops, lost a handle on the 450bhp Porsche around a curve.

The driver of this accident made it out okay, but wrecking a Lambo Diablo probably won't go over too well with the car Gods when he does eventually pass over to the other side.

There is a lot of speculation that this was all one big insurance fraud attempt. It makes sense. He said that he was fumbling around in the car and lost track of the road, but come on. You don't let that happen in a Bugatti. Regardless, R.I.P. to a super expensive car.
