There are always those people that take it too far. Whether it's a person ruining a joke by using it too much, a stalker getting way too personal with a celebrity, or a drunk frat boy with a drunk sorority girl, there's always going to be a bad outcome. The automotive world is no exception. There's nothing wrong with admiring the design and aesthetic looks of cars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis. We do it all the time. However, we don't go crazy, looking for some stupid solution to own one. The people on this list have. Armed with cardboard, wood, steel, and a plethora of tools found out back in the shed, there have been plenty of hack replicas made. The end result is never good. Click on to see these 10 Ratchet Replica Cars.
Lamborghini Reventon
Ever wonder what a taller, bulkier, bumpy Lamborghini Reventon would look like? Yeah, us either. Because that would be stupid. That's what this is, though. Based on a Japanese Nissan Bluebird, this replica took $14,000 and one month to build. Of course, when the driver actually tried to take it out for a spin, he was stopped by the police, fined, and told to restore the car to its original looks.
Ferrari Enzo
There's something off about this Ferrari Enzo. I can't quite place it. Oh! Wait, it's the fact that it's not really a Ferrari and looks nothing like one. It's almost the exact opposite, actually, considering how tall it is, how fat it is, and how truncated it is. *Shivers* Click the next slide so we can stop looking at this monstrosity!
Lamborghini Countach
The good part about this one is that it's clearly a joke, unlike most of these other attempts. This person didn't seriously build this to be an everyday driver. However, it's still a pretty shitty job, and a major waste of time.
Ferrari 360
This replica is a bit more organized than some of the others, but it still defines what makes an automotive idiot. Can you tell us what's wrong with a Toyota MR2? Don't even think about saying, "It's not a Ferrari," because we'll slap you. This isn't a Ferrari, either, and it's not even subtle. It's way too midgety. FOH with this shit.
Lamborghini Reventon
Here's a point of reference about a Lambo Reventon: Only 21 were made in the world, and the car fetches more than $1,000,000. Maybe that's why there are so many awful replicas. This fine specimen was built in China for around $10,000 using bits and pieces from a second-hand Nissan and a Volkswagen Santana. The silver lining is that this puppy can still get up to 160 mph. We don't know if we'd trust it enough to test that out, but we're not the ones driving it.
Lamborghini Murcielago
There are a couple things wrong with this. First off, this Pontiac Sunfire was owned by a man. Unacceptable. Second, said man tried to take a Pontiac Sunfire and build his own makeshift front fender to look like a Lambo. Horribly unacceptable. The one thing that's correct about it was that it was found in a junkyard, where it belongs.
Ferrari F40
What do people usually do with their piece-of-shit Suzuki SC 100 GX? Turn it into a Ferrari F40, naturally ... NOT. This looks like one of those toy micro cars that you wind back and let fly.
Lamborghini Reventon
Yep, another Reventon. Like we said, they're super rare, so it's no surprise. The surprise on this one is that it looks like it was taken off the set of the movie Death Race. Or maybe it was commissioned to be built for a new sequel. Built completely from steel, this was based on a 1995 Nissan Cefiro.
Porsche 959
We're not exactly sure what this used to be, but it sure as hell didn't turn out like what it's intended to be. Although most casual onlookers might not realize it, this project butchered the look of the widely loved Porsche 959. Here's what it's supposed to look like. Now, compare that to this awful front end. What are those headlights, lamps for ants?! They've got to be at least ... four times bigger!
Gumpert Apollo
What do you know? Here's another MR2-based replica, this time reaching even a little bit higher in the supercar world. It might have tiny resemblances to the Gumpert Apollo, but this concoction isn't nearly as sexy and doesn't have nearly the power of a 650hp twin-turbo V8.
