Nissan's NISMO, derived from Nissan Motorsports International Co., LTD., has, for a long time, been a very successful racing team, but has failed to gain widespread recognition in the marketplace. Head of Global Product Planning Andy Palmer says that NISMO "won every class it competed in for the 2011 season," which is reason enough for us to want to see the division make some more road cars.
Luckily, although NISMO has focused mostly on handling in the past, the company is working on RS packages for a number of cars that would include not only the usual suspension upgrades, but significant power boosts as well.
The first iteration of this will probably be on the next generation Z car, which is already in development, followed by the Juke NISMO (pictured).
