Intro

Often times, we only focus on the positive: Which cars are stunning, beautiful, and sexy. However, there is a dark side to automotive design. This often unnoticed, haunting path causes horrible things like the front end designs you are about to see. Some look like body parts, others look like cartoon characters. Check out 10 Car Grilles That Hilariously Look Like Something Else.

Fisker Karma - Victorian Villain

Fisker Karma - Victorian Villain

The Fisker Karma is a gorgeous vehicle, except for that silly-ass mustache. Why must this thing look like Bill "The Butcher" Cutting from Gangs of New York? Why?

If you want an environmentally friendly car with sporting pretensions and a predilection for tying damsels in distress to railroad tracks, there's no better choice.

Mazda Mazda3 - Cheshire Cat

Mazda3 - Cheshire Cat

Both the Mazda and the cat are fun, unusual, and perpetually sporting a demented grimace. They're both plotting something, aren't they? Perhaps it's your untimely demise, a surprise party, or torque-steer. You won't know until it happens.

Ford Edsel - Unpictured Orifice

Ford Edsel - Unpictured Orifice

When the Edsel was unveiled to an appaled audience many of them found this distinction as well. The front of the things looks like an orifice that we aren't allowed to post photos of here on Complex. We're a family site (sorta) and there are already plenty of pictures of said orifice on the internet.

Don't worry, you still probably have some time before the nukes start to come down. Just be sure to use hard-wired telephones if you ever see one of these cruising in your neighborhood.

Ford Fusion - Gillette Fusion

Both Fusions were released around the same time, so it's impossible to tell which company stole the name and design from the other.

Mitsuoka Orochi - Lamprey

Mitsuoka Orochi - Lamprey

The Cthulu-esque Mitsuoka Orochi has a face that even a mother couldn't love. It sucks. It sucks air to cool its engine, and it probably sucks the brains out of lonely hobos who wander into dark alleyways.

For an extra $995 as a dealer-installed option buyers can get dangling lights to hang from the fronts of their cars. These are carefully engineered to attract unwary pedestrians.

Lincoln MKZ Concept - Salvador Dali

Lincoln MKZ Concept - Salvador Dali

Although the previous MKZ looked like Wilford Brumley ("Diabeetus!"), this one looks more like the great surrealist, Dali. Ford should make the clock out of wax to promote melting in hot climates as a second ode to the master of the bizarre.

Any Acura - Sam the Eagle

Any Acura - Sam the Eagle

Why must a foreign brand steal the visage of our most patriotic muppet? Shouldn't it be Jeep or Ford that's looking like Sam? That said, we'd rather it be a bunch of uninspiring Acuras that look this beaky and daft.

Horsey Horseless - If you can't figure it out, get off our website.

Horsey Horseless - If you can't figure it out, you must not enjoy life.

Once upon a time, a hair-brained engineer named Uriah Smith noticed that horses often got spooked by these new-fangled motor-cars. No doubt it would calm them if said motor cars were adorned with the severed heads of other horses that were filled with a foul smelling and explosive liquid.

Would you be less afraid of a tank if it had your cousin's severed head-turned-bomb glued to the front of it? Didn't think so. This, the fact that this thing looks impossibly stupid, and the infantile name are no-doubt the reasons why the Horsey Horseless never caught on with people or horses.
