Intro

They say your car says a lot about you. That's true. But we say what you do to it after buying it says even more. Some people keep it simple by throwing on a clean custom paint job and maybe some new rims. But others take it to the extreme. And by extreme, we mean epic fail modifications like "Carlashes," video game console interiors, designer monogram paint jobs, and bumper nuts. No clue what those are? No worries, we'll put you on in a bit. So before you think about trickin' out your ride, take a cautionary look at the 25 Biggest Car Accessory/Modification Fails of All Time...

Car Sex Window Decals

25. Backseat Action 24/7

Modification: Car Sex Window Decals
Complex Says: Humorous? Yes. Attractive? Not at all. This just screams sex offender. If rapist vans had windows, they'd probably be tricked out with this decal.

Turbo Badge

24. Phony Ponies

Modification: Turbo Badge
Complex Says: Fake it till you make it? No. Affixing turbo badges to cars where they don't belong is confusing and wrong. An SS badge on a GMC Canyon? FOH.

Smart Tank

23. Ready For War

Modification: Smart Tank
Complex Says: We've already openly co-signed eco-friendly cars, so we're not knocking anyone for having a Smart car. But a Smart tank? C'mon, son! No matter what you do to that model, no one is going to be intimidated by a car that can use some walk-in closets as a garage. #keepit100

Suicide Knob

22. The No-Slob Knob

Modification: Suicide Knob
Complex Says: Back in the '50s, Suicide Knobs, or Necker Knobs, as they were more commonly referred to back then, were used to easily steer your vehicle while necking your girl who's riding shotty. Oh how times change. Today, the Granny Knob is still associated with those reckless teenagers from the '50s. But now they're elderly and have difficulty handling the wheel for completely different reasons. So for you young'ns who add this to your whip for an old-school feel or thinking you might get some front seat action... #killyaself

Car Teeth

21. Grrr...

Modification: Car Teeth
Complex Says: Want to make your ride appear ridiculously cartoonish and look as if it were auditioning for the next edition of Disney's Cars series? Throw some teeth on the grill, son! You'll lose all respect from fellow motorists. But if you were even considering this modification, then it's not like you cared about that in the first place.

Fake Fender Vents

20. All For Show

Modification: Fake Fender Vents
Complex Says: More and more manufacturers have been adding these to newer models, but that doesn't take away from their tackiness when done the wrong way. And by the wrong way we mean throwing ridiculous "vents" on the side of an old Land Rover just for the hell of it.

Decals Showing size of Rims

19. Mr. Big Stuff (II)

Modification: Decals Showing size of Rims
Complex Says: This one can go under one of the most pause-worthy car accessories of all time. Right next to bumber nuts. More on those a bit later. But yeah, telling everyone how big your rims are is kind of outdated and a bit too much information.

Anti-Theft Flame Thrower

18. Waka Flocka Flame

Modification: Anti-Theft Flame Thrower
Complex Says: Theft prevention is one of the oldest and most necessary car accessories of all time. But there is (or should be) a limit to everything. This crazy anti-theft modification originated in South Africa as carjacking in the country was going on at an alarming rate. Now, while the potential carjacker will be burnt to a crisp, there's a more likely chance that it'll be misused and end up causing harm to the driver and any other people in the vicinity.

"Carstache"

17. That To Catch A Predator Swag

Modification: "Carstache"
Complex Says: You know how some dudes' 'staches give off that molester steez? These do the same thing, just on a level 50 times larger. We hear sex offenders are the number one consumers of this accessory.

Escalade School Bus

16. Going Dumb—Literally

Modification: Escalade School Bus
Complex Says: SMH, this has to be a direct product of the failed hyphy movement. Ride the yellow bus? Go dumb? Go stupid? Yes, this car screams all of those sayings. This is a prime example of when following trends goes way too far.

Hubcap Spinners

15. Ridin' Spinners...Kinda

Modification: Hubcap Spinners
Complex Says: We're not going to front. Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, spinners were all the rage. Three-six mafia made a song about 'em, former NBA star Latrell Sprewell was associated with them, and they even inspired one of the ugliest shoes of all time. But tastes change, and by the mid-2000s spinners were beginning to get played out. Sadly, as with all trends, cheaply made knock-offs began appearing everywhere. Putting them on your minivan is not a good look, fam. According to Three-Six, the spinners don't stop. But if you're rolling around with these on your car, we kindly ask you to do so. Please.

Obnoxious LED Underglow

14. Flashing Lights

Modification: Obnoxious LED Underglow
Complex Says: Bright LED underglows remind us of that Yung Joc song "I Know You See It." Yes, we do. Now, could please tone that shit down before you cause an accident?

Monster Truck Tires on Sedan

13. Tonka Toy Status

Modification: Monster Truck Tires on Sedan
Complex Says: This modification is perfectly made for those with a Napoleon complex. Because everyone would just love to drive around town elevated about four feet higher than every other driver on the road, right? No. Putting this on your car or truck only says you've got to be coming up short in other areas of life. Pause.

Ridiculous Limo Extenstion

12. Extensions For Your Whip

Modification: Ridiculous Limo Extenstion
Complex Says: The limousine is timeless classic that will forever be associated with luxury and celebratory events. That being said, there's no reason for you to go all Otis on a beat-up station wagon (and many other cars) to create the this disgusting mash-up. You may have been going for the limo, but all you really got was the L. A major one at that.

Animal Car

11. Straight-Up Beastly

Modification: Animal Car
Complex Says: Jaguars, Cobras, Mustangs. Cars have seemingly been associated with animals since their existence. But completely converting your car to look like creatures is simply cartoonish. Though we have to admit, being next to that snorting dragon car at a red light would scare the shit out of us. Only to be followed by us laughing our asses off seconds later.

Oversized Spoiler

10. Ready for Take Off

Modification: Oversized Spoiler
Complex Says: It's true that wings, when sized and positioned correctly, can make your ride more aerodynamic. But there's a limit for everything. Putting a gigantic wing on your car will not only fail to improve your car's performance, but it will make you look like a complete jackass in the process.

All Fur Everything Interior

9. FOH, PETA!

Modification: All Fur Everything Interior
Complex Says: Whether it's for clothing, living room decorations, or your car interior, the use of fur could either come off as a ridiculously fresh success or as an epic failure. That being said, all-fur or faux fur interiors in your ride (especially when done in obnoxious colors) is outlandish and damn near criminal. If it's faux fur, why are you frontin'? If it's real, why'd you feel the need to put more animals on the endangered species list?

Excessive Bumper Stickers

8. Will You Please, STFU?

Modification: Excessive Bumper Stickers
Complex Says: Ahh, the trend we like to call "logohrrea on wheels." No, we don't care who you're voting for. Or how smart your kid is. Or whether you have an infant on board (like that's really gonna stop us from pushing 80 as we roll past you). Or how many trees you're trying to save (unless you plan on sharing some, of course).

Bullet Hole Stickers

7. Respect the Shooter

Modification: Bullet Hole Stickers
Complex Says: There's something about bullet holes that makes people falsely associate them with being cool. If your favorite rapper has taken a few slugs, he somehow has street cred. If you add these stickers to your car then...stratch that, there's no justifying putting these on your car. Whether you were trying to make us think your car's been through a tour of Iraq or a drive by, this attempt just comes off as a desperate, lame cry for attention.

Whistle Tip

6. The Whistles Go Whoo!

Modification: Whistle Tip
Complex Says: "The whistles go whoo!" Those infamous words of the Internet sensation Bubb Rubb took whistle tips to a whole new level in 2002. His inteview with Bay Area local news station KRON 4 let everyone how annoying the modified exhaust pipes could be for neighbors and how hilarious they were for the rest of us. Sadly, as of January 1, 2004, California banned whistle tips, and violators now face fines up to $1,000. SMH, no clue why'd they ban these. After all, you're 'pose to be up cooking breakfast in the morning!

Unnecessary Mash-Up

5. Frankenstein Fail

Modification: Unnecessary Mash-Up
Complex Says: Everyone should take some pride in their cars. Whether it's a beat-up hoopty or high-end luxury vehicle, at least you're not forced to take public transportation everywhere you go. That being said, if you have a respectable mid-range vehicle, there's absolutely no reason for you to go all Dr. Frankenstein on it and try to upgrade it to another brand of car. You're wasting money and downgrading our car. A Chrysler 300 x Bentley x Rolls Royce? Really?

Xbox Car Interior Kit

4. Leet Gamer For Life

Modification: Xbox Car Interior Kit
Complex Says: Many think that your car says a lot about you. Here's what comes to mind if you have this interior: 1. I'm still living in my mom's basement. 2. I'm pretty glad I finally saved up enough allowance money for this kit. 3. If you're female and even so much as say hello to me, I'm liable to stalk you for the next four years.

Designer Monogram Paint Job

3. Gucci, Gucci, Louis, Louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada

Modification: Designer Monogram Paint Job
Complex Says: What is it about the Louis Vuitton print that makes people do some of the most ignorant things? Rolling around with your favorite designer monogram plastered all over your ride screams label whore and doesn't look right on any vehicle, whether it's a Rolls-Royce or a beat-up Caddy.

Bumper Nuts

2. Low-Hanging Fruit

Modification: Bumper Nuts
Complex Says: Some words of wisdom: Put these on your whip and we guarantee all you'll end up getting is a bad case of blue balls. That's if you even get that far.

Carlashes

1. Beauty Queen

Modification: Carlashes
Complex Says: Fake lashes on your lady? Questionable and kind of tacky. Fake lashes on your whip? Straight-up unacceptable. It doesn't matter what you're driving, your car is NOT pretty enough to doll it up with these atrocious accessories known as "carlashes." Leave that ratchet behavior for the birds, fam.
