Fellow Hall of Fame wrestler Hulk Hogan, who believed that much of his success was owed to Okerlund, made an appearance on Raw Monday night to honor the legacy of the late announcer. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, fans were ecstatic upon The Hulkster's return. He made his entrance in his full wrestling getup (including a shirt that said "Mean Gene-o-Mania") and stayed in character because he believed it was "exactly how 'Mean' Gene would've wanted it." During his speech the fans, (some holding "R.I.P." signs) erupted into cheers and praise for the late announcer.

Hogan's touching tribute was enhanced by his acknowledgement of other iconic figures in the wrestling universe that have also passed away, which included Macho Man Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Mr. Perfect, and Andre the Giant.

That may have been the greatest promo of @HulkHogan's career. He paid respect to Mean Gene and many of the other legends who have passed on. That was good. That was a very good tribute. #WWE #Raw #RIPMeanGene #ThankYouMeanGene

Mean Gene's final WWE broadcast - he was still hosting WWE Vintage Collection in international markets with @CharlyCarusoWWE, this was their final show televised a few days ago, a real shame they won't get that one more show together as promised #RIPMeanGene pic.twitter.com/i0Lpt1ncet
