Larry Drew and the Cleveland Cavaliers have come to terms on a deal that will allow at least one dark cloud hanging over the organization to dissipate. According to ESPN, Drew agreed to a contract that will keep him onboard as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign, and includes a partially guaranteed deal for the following season.

Drew’s contract for the 2019-20 season can now be terminated with a buyout if the Cavaliers decide to go elsewhere for a head coach.

Following their decision to fire Tyronn Lue after an 0-6 start to the season, the Cavaliers promoted Drew to take over head coaching duties on an interim basis. Drew was initially reluctant to assume the role without receiving the type of compensation suited for a head coach. While dissatisfied over financial differences, Drew has lead the Cavs to a 1-2 record under his regime.

With their financial dispute with Drew all sorted out, the Cavaliers' front office can now focus on taking care of a number of other issues going on with this super dysfunctional organization. The Cavs still need to figure out how they're going to handle J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver's trade requests, as well as determine Kevin Love's future with the team. They will also need to get their cornerstone point guard Collin Sexton to grow as a person and player, and live up to the expectations that come with being a top lottery pick.
