It was a long winter. Like, so long that you stopped showering and clipping your toenails and wore that same dumb shirt you bought from the flea market that says "Richardson Family Reunion" for two straight weeks because you thought you'd never leave your house again.
But summer is finally here, which means it's time to leave the house, make sure your car still works, and rediscover your city. And what better way to do that than having a perfect soundtrack for your warm weather rides? We put together a list of some of the best new songs for summer, and by new, we mean anything dope that's dropped in the past few months. So, shave your face, eat a breath mint, and check out 25 Great New Songs To Blast in You Car This Summer.

T.I. ft. Young Thug "About the Money"
Regardless of how you feel about Young Thug and his leopard print style, this is undeniably a song that should be played over and over and over this summer. For most people this season is a break, but for those who refuse to settle, this is still a perfect time to hunker down and fill that bank account. Play this on your way to work to remind you why you're doin' it.
Young The Giant "Mind Over Matter"
"And when the seasons change, will you stand by me?" This jam from Young The Giant is the perfect joint to play in the car when you're girl is questioning why you've attended so many damn foam parties this summer. Or why you spent your money on three pairs of foams instead of flowers for her.
Slaughterhouse "SayDatThen"
After a bit of hiatus, them Slaughterhouse boys are back. Crooked I announces the group's return with a vengeance on "SayDatThen," a track to throw on in the whip when you're in a bad mood and just want to let go of some aggression.
St. Vincent "Digital Witness"
If a song could mimic what the inner workings of a computer sound like, "Digital Witness" might be it. Funky horns and a head-nodding beat make this one a sleeper hit for the summer.
Big K.R.I.T. "Mt. Olympus"
You want trap? You want bass? You want Molly? You want drank? Nah, all you need is this vicious display of excellence from one of the South's best representers, Big K.R.I.T. He wrote it, he produced it, he mixed it, and then he used it to rise above all of your favorite rappers. If you're looking for a straight-up tough track for your car, this is the one.
Beck "Blue Moon"
Laid back with a spacey feel, this track from Beck can be played on that lazy morning commute to work, when you're not quite awake enough to turn up but can't bear any more sports talk radio.
Future ft. Pharrell, Pusha T & Casino
This is sort of older, so we'll stretch the title of this post to "newish" for this one, but it's peaking at the right moment. The beat sounds like it's from outer space, but in the best way possible. Just don't actually move any dope while you're driving around listening to this, you know, for legal reasons.
Ty Dollar $ign ft. 2 Chainz "Familiar"
The only thing famliar about this song is how much of a jam it is. 2 Chainz hops on Dollar $ign's track for the remix, and the result is perfect for some summer cruising.
Meek Mill ft. Rick Ross "Off the Corner"
Graduated from the streets? Maybe in one aspect of life, that's okay, but you couldn't pull our four tires off the asphalt if you tried. And any song with Ross and Meek isn't going to help.
CHVRCHES "We Sink"
Full of feel-good synths and Lauren Mayberry's distant vocals, "We Sink" will instantly put you in a good mood no matter what's going on. This is the last song you throw on in the ride on the way home from a night out to end everything on a good note.
Asher Roth "Be Right"
If you haven't checked out RetroHash yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. After dropping the mediocre The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 2 last summer, Asher's new project could easily be used as an easy-going summer soundtrack on it's own. It's the kind of music for when you're just relaxing in your backyard net to your grill, sipping on a homemade Arnold Palmer.
"Be Right," specifically, almost feels like a follow up to G.R.I.N.D." from four years ago. Plain and simple, both tracks are just made to inject positivity into your outlook on life and make you feel good. Which is exactly what a cathartic drive already does. And if you have hair as long as Ash's, that wind is only going to be that much better.
Drake "0 to 100/The Catch Up"
If Drake doesn't make the ultimate "I'm driving around in a better car than you and I want to let you know it" music, then we don't know who does. "0 to 100/The Catch Up" is just another excuse to hop in the ride and do a victory lap for no good reason.
HS87 "Scorn"
Audio Push, Kid Cudi and the beat producer himself, Hit-Boy, go in over some out-of-the-box production from the latter. Throw this on when you're the passenger and might have had a little too much summer brew.
Paramore "Ain't It Fun"
Paramore? More like, Para-more of this song, amiright? This one's entirely too catchy not be to be the song of the summer. It'll get stuck in your head for the rest of the day season, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Schoolboy Q "Hell of a Night"
There are times when you just know you're about to have the night of your life. Maybe you've seeded the party with a handful of girls that might or might not be into you. Maybe your boy stocked the fridge full of your favorite flavor of Mike's Hard Lemonade. Whatever reason, this tune from Schoolboy will have you ready for whatever the night has in store, no matter how weird it gets.
DJ Khaled ft. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Meek Mill & French Montana "They Don't Love You No More"
Meek, Ross and Hov over a Khaled produced anthem is the reason that summers and motorized vehicles were invented. Just do everybody a favor and recognize when you don't have a good sound system. This song will ruin a neighborhood if people hear your weak speakers flapping.
Calvin Harris "Summer"
What would the summer months be without a banger from Calvin Harris? Keep this one at a respectable volume level in the car until the song goes into full rage mode, then make sure you turn it up to the point where you won't be able to hear that annoying iPhone ringer when your starts blowing up. Summer driving is better than sitting at your local bar drinking High Life Light with locals anyway.
Future ft. Kanye West "I Won"
Sometimes you've got to let your woman know what she means to you, and what better way to do that than buying her flowers, opening the car door for her and then blasting this ode to that special someone.
Wiz Khalifa "The Last"
A hidden gem on Khalifa's 28 Grams, "The Last" is for after dusk cruising, either on your way to a party or on the way home when you've got a pretty young thang riding shotgun. Let Trap Wiz calm your nerves.
The Black Keys "Fever"
The hit single from the Akron duo's latest is psychedelic, yet bluesy, and has a vintage feel to it. Let that beat pulse through your speakers and fuel your drive.
Mac Miller "Here We Go"
A lazy Sunday afternoon drive is perfect for this slowed down Mac Miller tune. You might not have anywhere to go, but the windows are down (except for maybe that rear passenger one that sticks), that summer breeze is blowing and Mac is yelling inspiring shit like "I did it all without a Drake feature!" Feel free to grab a Big Gulp slushie and improvise by screaming, "I drank it all without a brain freeze!" Same thing, basically.
Coldplay "Magic"
Cuffin' season is over, and if you were a casualty of a less than fortunate ending, don't worry. So was Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin. "Magic" is for that car ride you need to take when you can't take your mind off her. Just don't pull up to a red light all misty and what not. Not a good look for the hottie pulled up next to you.
Ab-Soul ft. Action Bronson & Asaad "Stigmata"
This sinister-sounding Ab-Soul track, off his upcoming project These Days, just sounds like one of those songs you listen to while getting into trouble, which is half the purpose of summer. Lean back in your seat, reach that arm out and creep slow through the neighborhood to this one.
50 Cent ft. "Flip on You"
It shouldn't be surprising to see frequent TDE apperances here. They're the best rap group out right now, and they're not really missing with their songs right now. This bonus track from 50 Cent's new album is no exception, as Q and 50 trade verses, letting out some vivid aggression. If you're pissed on a Saturday night after that Tinder date didn't go according to plan, throw this on and bark out some violent rhymes.
Lil' Wayne "D'usse"
Ths Carter V is coming, and if "D'usse" is any indication, Wayne is on some other shit. Wayne goes into overdrive on this one, barely pausing to take a breath. Careful, if you aren't paying attention, you might find yourself going 20 over the speed limit with blue and red lights in the rear view.
