LeBron James is disputing reports that the NBA season might be canceled. James took to Twitter Thursday, and made it clear that he's ready to play again whenever it's safe.
CNBC reported earlier today that team owners and executives are concerned with liability issues in regards to resuming the season, and that they aren't sure whether or not it would be worth trying to salvage. James has been adamant about wanting to continue with this year's regular season, saying in a recent conference call with reporters that it would be difficult to gain closure if it wasn't.
"I can have some satisfaction on what our team has been able to do this year [with] a first-year coach, first-year system, a whole new coaching staff, bringing on so many new pieces to our team this year,” James said. "[But] I don’t think I’ll be able to have any closure if we do not have an opportunity to finish this season."
While the fate of the rest of the season remains in question, LeBron is keeping busy. He recently announced that he—along with Complex Networks and several other media outlets—will be hosting a special TV event honoring all 2020 high school graduates.
Called "Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020," the event is set to feature appearances by Nobel prize winner Malala Yousafzai, soccer star Megan Rapinoe, Pharrell, Bad Bunny, Yara Shahidi, H.E.R., and many more. You can join in the virtual celebration on May 16.
