While Charles Barkley is one of the most dominant forwards in NBA history, the Hall-of-Famer turned a few heads when he said that he believes he was the second best player on the 1992 Dream Team.

While on the Pivot Podcast with Channing Crowder, Fred Taylor, and Ryan Clark, Barkley talked about what it was like playing on the Dream Team, and why a comment from head coach Chuck Daly is the reason he felt like he was the second best player on that legendary squad.

“There was only one motherfucker [better than me], Michael [Jordan],” Charles says in the clip above. He then doubles down when asked if he was the second best player on the Dream Team. “Hell yeah. Hell yeah, go back and look.”

When asked if he felt frustrated that other players like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan were the ones credited with carrying the team, Barkley said it didn’t bother him.

“No, and let me tell you why,” he said. “No. 1, Chuck Daly said to me, he said, ‘Charles, can I talk to you? You’re the second best basketball player in the world.’ I said, ‘Who’s better than me?’ and he said, ‘That motherfucker right there [Jordan].’ And I said, ‘You’re right about that.’… And that’s the best compliment I’ve ever gotten from somebody.”
