This man is a genius. A criminal genius, but a genius nonetheless. Eric Mark Bonhommer was arrested for using a retractable license plate to avoid paying tolls. Police pulled him over last week on the Staten Island bridge after they noticed his license plate disappear.

Bonhommer's contraption ran a 12-foot string through a tube from his license plate to the driver compartment. When he pulled the string the license plate would flip up to make the tolls his bitch. Police weren't as impressed as we are and charged Bonhommer with theft of service and tampering with evidence. They also impounded his car. Getting it back out will probably cost more than he saved in tolls.
