10 years ago, Gerry McIlroy (father of Rory McIlroy) put roughly $171 (along with three friends who ponied up the same sum) on Rory to win the British Open by the time he was 26. Today (Rory's last chance) he accomplished that feat, and in doing so made his pops and his buddies a tidy profit.
It really puts it all in perspective. Next time your dad tells you he "believes in you" tell him to put his "money where his mouth is" or otherwise "shut the fuck up."
