200 Year Old State Carriage Belonging to Maharaja of Mysore Sold at Auction

The horse-drawn carriage in the thumbs above is an extremely rare Indian artifact, the state carriage owned by Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, Maharaja of the city of Mysore from 1902 to 1940. The Maharaja was one of the world’s wealthiest men at the time of his death with a fortune estimated to be equivalent to about $56 billion in the present day. The olive green carriage features 16 drop-down windows, decorated panels and shutters, an interior upholstered in beige damask, and an exterior with 2 seats for servants and courtiers and was auctioned in Britain by auctioneer Historics at Brookland on November 24th for $125,634.
