Knicks president Phil Jackson likes the prospects of hiring interim head coach Kurt Rambis to take the reins as head coach for the Knicks to instill the Triangle Offense next season. Perhaps Rambis' losing record as an NBA coach is an afterthought to Phil.
Although, Jackson wants to interview some other available coaches first for who he feels could bring the Knicks back to prominence next season. Those names now include former Cavaliers coach David Blatt and Mark Jackson (sorry, Patrick!)
Jackson, a defensive specialist, helped mold the Golden State Warriors into a playoff contender before he was fired from their head coach position in 2014. SNY.tv reporter Tommy Dee stated:
Jackson would be a hometown favorite, being that he's a Brooklyn native who helped lead his alma mater St. John's to the 1985 Final Four, and was drafted No. 18 overall by the Knicks in 1987. He won Rookie of the Year in 1988, and played for the Knicks before he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 1992.
