Now that Carmelo Anthony’s deal with the Portland Trail Blazers has been finalized, he’s chosen to play with the jersey number 00.

On Tuesday, Melo took to Instagram to explain his choice, posting a photo of all the reasons why he landed on that number. He also further detailed his decision in the caption: “One should be concentrating on clues that the universe is dropping for them to take up a quick reaction. Divine power is seeking my undivided attention. I had to achieve the tranquility of spiritual maturity through the guidance of the Universe.”

A number greater than any assignable quantity or countable symbol.

It’s expected that Melo will play in Tuesday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. He hasn’t played since Nov. 8, 2018 when he was with the Houston Rockets. “Carmelo is an established star in this league that will provide a respected presence in our locker room and a skill set at a position of need on the floor,” Blazers president Neil Olshey told ESPN after the signing.
