The Clippers and Bucks have had enough.
Before going head-to-head at L.A.'s Staples Center on Saturday, the teams paid tribute to the Thousand Oaks mass shooting victims. Athletes stepped onto the court for a moment of silence, while wearing warmup tees that read "Enough" on the front; the back of the shirts featured the names of all 12 shooting victims.
The tragedy occurred late Wednesday night at the Borderline Bar & Grill, which is located about 45 miles from the Staples Center. After shooting the front-door bouncer, the hooded gunman entered the venue, threw a smoke bomb, and opened fire on patrons. The suspect, a 28-year-old Marine veteran, took the lives of 12 people before killing himself.
In the wake of the tragedy, people across the country have called on lawmakers to impose stricter gun laws. Clippers coach Doc Rivers criticized shared his thoughts on the matter ahead of Saturday's game.
"It’s just sad. It really is. It’s sad. The gun violence," Rivers told reporters. "[...] This whole thing about, 'I guess it wasn't a terrorist attack,' just infuriates me. If that was your child, I'd bet they think it was a terrorist attack. The guns are the terrorist, and until we understand that, we’re going to keep having terrorist attacks. It's sad."
