It’s only been about a week since Thunder assistant coach Monty Williamslost his wife Ingrid in a car accident that took place in Oklahoma City. So when he took center stage at Crossings Community Church yesterday afternoon in front of friends, family, and plenty of familiar faces from around the NBAKevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Gregg Popovich, Doc Rivers, Jeff Van Gundy, Avery Johnson, and Tom Thibodeau were just a few of the players and coaches in attendance—it would have been understandable if he would have struggled to keep his composure as he delivered a eulogy for Ingrid. It actually would have been expected. But Williams didn't struggle through his speech at all. Instead, he delivered a beautiful eulogy that focused on celebrating his wife's life and offered up his prayers and forgiveness for the family of the driver who caused the accident that killed her.

“Everybody is praying for me and my family, and that is right,” he said before referencing Susannah Donaldson, the driver who hit Williams’ wife and also died in the crash. “But let us not forget that there were two people in this situation, and that family needs prayer as well. And we have no ill will toward that family. In my house, we have a sign that says, ‘As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.’ We cannot serve the Lord if we don’t have a heart of forgiveness. That family didn’t wake up wanting to hurt my wife. Life is hard. Life is very hard. And that was tough. But we hold no ill will towards the Donaldson family. And we, as a group, brothers united in unity, should be praying for that family, because they grieve as well.”

Watch Williams' entire eulogy in the clip above. It was a truly moving speech.
