What was Oregon State player Jarmal Reid thinking during his team’s game against Utah last night?
Reid, a senior forward for the Beavers, got knocked down after grabbing a loose ball in the second half of the game. While he was on the ground, he turned to a referee who was standing nearby and pleaded for a foul call. But after the ref basically ignored him and started to run down to the other end of the court, Reid responded by sticking his leg out and tripping him on purpose. The ref blew his whistle immediately, hit Reid with a flagrant foul, and ejected him from the game.
And the craziest part of all? Reid looked around after the ref gave him the boot as if to say, “What did I do?” All you need to do is watch the video to see exactly what he did. No word on what kind of penalty the Pac-12 will hand down to Reid, but we would expect it to be pretty severe.
