Several people were injured at Barclays Center in Brooklyn early Sunday morning, when a stampede broke out after a false report of an active shooter.

The incident occurred following a boxing match between Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero at Barclays, as several people in attendance took to Twitter to report an active shooter situation.

“I was just in the Barclays center and suddenly I heard shouting and saw people running, then we were being yelled at that there was an active shooter and we had to huddle in a room and close the doors,” tennis star Naomi Osaka wrote.

Thankfully, the New York Police Department has confirmed that the panicked crowd was merely reacting to a “sound disturbance” outside the arena, with CNN reporting that ten people suffered minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals.

“After investigating the incident at the Barclays Center this morning, we determined that no shots were fired,” the NYPD 78th Precinct said in a tweet on Sunday.

Prior to the disturbance, the undefeated Gervonta Davis retained his WBA secondary lightweight title with a sixth round knockout of Rolando Romero. The TKO is the 25th for Davis in 27 career fights, as the 27-year-old Baltimore native now holds an undefeated 27-0 record for his career.
