Ray Lewis III, Son of NFL Star Ray Lewis, Dead at 28 (UPDATE)

UPDATED June 17, 11:11 p.m. ET: TMZ is reporting Ray Lewis III died from an accidental overdose. The outlet obtained the overdose report from police in Florida.

The report also states police found a blue pill near his body, which they unofficially identified as Alprazolam. Alprazolam is a drug that's commonly found in Xanax. Police say there was a used needle in a room as well as a small plastic bag found inside of an empty beer can.

Ray Lewis III, son of Baltimore Ravens legend of NFL Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, has passed away at 28, according to TMZ.

"A true angel I pray your at peace now because IK how much you was rlly hurtin," Lewis' brother Rahsaan wrote on Instagram. "I don't and won't ever have the words man cuz this pain right here....I love you I love you I love you."

Rahsaan continued, "Your niece gone miss you but she will hear about u over and over just watch over us all big bruh be our guardian I promise I'll make you smile and proud."

A cause of death has yet to be revealed.

Lewis previously played football at Lake Mary Prep H.S. in Florida. He would go on to play with the University of Miami's Miami Hurricanes, Coastal Carolina University, and Virginia Union University.

"Great young man and a better teammate," Virginia Union Associate Head Coach Diego Ryland told TMZ in light of Lewis' death. "The entire Virginia Union University community is praying for the family as they deal with the loss of Ray."
