Kevin Durant’s mother, Wanda has her son’s back.
On Tuesday, she shared a message for anyone who second-guessed her son’s heart and dedication to the Golden State Warriors during the NBA Finals.
She wrote, “For ALL of you who question my son as a Man, question his Heart, question his Integrity and question his LOVE for the game of basketball, you DON’T know him. He has a heart of a true Warrior! This too shall pass. God Bless you ALL.”
Durant had been unable to play due to a calf injury, but made his return for Game 5 of the Finals. However, early in the second quarter, he suffered another injury, which some believe could be an Achilles heel tear. Some Toronto Raptors fans cheered and applauded when Durant fell, and have been criticized by Durant's teammates.
Since the injury, Durant has received support from his team and other celebrities.
We live in a era where players put money, contracts and they’re health first. (As they should) but just to see Kevin Durant take the floor last night was special. I’m old enough to see Isaiah Thomas (pistons) score 25 on damn near a broke foot, or seen footage of Willis reed come back to help win a championship on one leg. So to see KD even get on that floor Gave me a chill. Everyone was questioning if KD wanted to play, if he wanted to still be a Warrior (this season) blah blah blah, well he answered the call. Now that he got hurt, some people are going to say he shouldn’t of played. (You’re damned if you do, Damned if u don’t) Because of so much media (social, internet, television) the narrative changes every 2hrs. (Everybody loved “The Greek Freak last month, now kawhi is the man) which is cool. But u can’t please everyone all the time. And I just want to thank KD for trying to put forth a effort that doesn’t happen anymore. And trust me no one is more hurt then he is. Of course physically, but as a competitor. My love and prayers go out to him. And I know he’ll be back better and tougher. 🙏🏽A real one.. 🤞🏾🤞🏾
