While many were entertained by the viral video, the Chiefs front office wasn't as amused.

Earlier this week, a video surfaced online of NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes showing off his handles during a friendly game of pick-up basketball. While many were entertained by the viral video, the Chiefs front office wasn't as amused. In fact, Kansas City's general manager Brett Veach went so far as to ask Mahomes if he could stay off the hardwood.

"We spoke to Patrick Mahomes’ agent and (he) said Chiefs Kingdom can be assured there will be no more basketball for Pat," Veach said during his appearance on a local sports radio show. "We were able to nip that in the bud."

While they're denying the internet of great footage, this move is in the best interest of both the Chiefs and Mahomes. For the Chiefs, they are protecting their prolific star player who at 23-years-old is the youngest player to win the NFL MVP since Hall of Famer Dan Marino. As for Mahomes, he is still two years away from being able to negotiate his rookie contract. This means an injury of any kind could hurt the quarterback's potential for a big payday and the Chiefs' shot at a Super Bowl next year.
