Cristiano Ronaldo's first club are paying tribute to their one-time boy wonder.

Between the ages of eight and ten, Ronaldo spent two seasons with Portuguese third-division side Andorinha – based on his home island of Madeira – and now, twenty years later, the club want to retire Ronaldo's old shirt.

It's pretty common for football clubs to retire the shirt numbers of players who either made a huge impact at the club – or left in tragic circumstances – but we rarely see retrospective action like this.

It's reported that the number seven shirt will forever be left vacant unless Cristiano or his son plays for the club in the future.
