After all the celebrating of Derek Jeter that the Yankees have put on this season, it was a pretty weird choice to have Derek Jeter Day at the same exact time as the majority of the American public was watching football. It was not the Yankees’ last home game, nor was it even their last weekend afternoon home game.
In any event, on hand to celebrate “The Captain” were sports legends like Michael Jordan and Cal Ripken Jr., and there were video messages from many other big names as well. The Yankees, because they don’t pay Jeter nearly enough, also gifted him with a 10-day trip to Tuscany and a massage chair.
Now, for the important question: who is Jeter bringing to Italy with him? Mariah Carey is now available. Just saying.
