Johnny Manziel has been through a lot over the course of the last 365 days. Since winning the Heisman Trophy last December, he's been poked and prodded by every single major sports publication. He's gone through a lengthy NCAA investigation. And he's been analyzed from just about every possible angle from both a personal and a football standpoint. We imagine that it hasn't been real easy on him.
He made it through all of that, though, and he did it, at least in part, thanks to some help from none other than LeBron James. LeBron knows a thing or two about overcoming adversity. So he's kept in contact with Johnny Football for the better part of the last year, specifically helping Manziel to stay focused on football during the NCAA investigation that he went through at the end of the summer.
"He texted me everyday just to make sure that I was staying focused and focused on what really matters," Manziel told Dan Patrick during a radio interview earlier today. "He continues to give me great advice, even to this day."
How cool is that? No, really, how cool is that? We've heard Manziel's name so many times during the last year that we sometimes forget that a little more than a year ago, no one knew who Manziel even was. And now, he's texting back and forth with the likes of LeBron on a regular basis.
