Mike Krzyzewski is precisely the type of guy you'd want to coach the 2016 United States men's basketball team. He took the reins after the infamous efforts of the 2004 bronze medal squad and led the country's basketball program to a 62-1 record and two Olympic gold medals during his tenure. So it was pretty disappointing when he reiterated in February that he wasn't going to return as head coach.
Now there's hope. Reports are saying that Coach K is currently in talks to possibly return as Team USA's head coach.
Krzyzewski confirmed that, "There's a chance. That's correct." Damn, such a tease but if there's any consolation, USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo said the on-going discussions are "very close to being resolved."
