Earlier this week, we heard that Tyrann Mathieu—the 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist who was kicked off the LSU football team recently for failing a drug test—would be announcing where he'd transfer to play football this season by Wednesday. But, Wednesday came and went and no decision was announced. Turns out, there's a good reason for that: The "Honey Badger" is currently in a drug rehab facility in Houston and will not play football during the 2012 season.

According to Mathieu's family, he's committed to going through the drug rehab process and getting his mind and body right before he returns to the football field. And, to do that, he checked himself into Houston's Right Step recovery center on Monday and has enlisted former NBA great John Lucas as his mentor.

So, will Mathieu's plan ultimately pay off? We'll have to wait and see. But, we're glad to see that the young man is getting help, instead of jumping right back into another college football program and making the same mistakes again. So, best of luck, Honey Badger. See you in 2013.
