William “Wild Bill” Eggers, a former carpenter and now part-time motorcycle maker, is one bike builder that doesn't play by the rules. His version of an Indian 4 wasn't made for purists. In the 1990s he took a rusted old Indian, which sells in good condition for $65,000, into a "Renegade" custom. It has inspired harsh criticism. But, is also loved by many. Loved enough that someone almost $87k on it over the weekend at the Quail Bonhams auction. [Bikeefix]
