A dog owner came up with an ingenious way to help his troubled pup get around easier, and it's all thanks to a pair of old Nikes.

Don Chernoff of Reston, Va., was trying to find an answer after his dog, Sunny, kept breaking and chewing up its prosthetic paw, reports UPI. The golden retriever's left front leg was amputated due to a tumor, so the prosthetic was a necessity for getting around.

After replacing a number of "faux paws," only to have them fail time and time again, Chernoff decided to turn to something more durable: his old Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tours, a tennis sneaker made famous by Roger Federer.

While Sunny probably won't be taking home any Grand Slam titles any time soon, this video of the dog's progress speaks volumes.

"It works much better and now Sunny is a Nike dog! Roger Federer would be proud," Chernoff wrote in the video's description.
