It seems like everyweek, we hear a newstory involving sneaker violence as a result of an online transaction gone wrong. Thankfully, a California police department is doing its part to put an end to the madness.

The Clovis Police Department in Clovis, Calif., recently implemented what it calls an "Exchange Zone" for private party transactions, reports Nice Kicks. Anyone taking part in a private deal — online or otherwise — is welcome to use the area freely, which is located just outside the police headquarters. The zones are monitored 24 hours a day by video surveillance and are well-lit to keep criminals at bay.

"The object of the program is to help reduce or prevent fraudulent and illegal transactions while maintaining the privacy of our residents by not arranging these exchanges at alternative locations like their private residences," the department said.

Although this isn't going to get rid of sneaker violence overnight, it's reassuring to see that steps are being taken to combat the issue.
