Black, red, and white color schemes inspired by the Chicago Bulls will always be the most consistent from the Air Jordan line, but another frequent inspiration is his alma mater, the UNC Tar Heels. The Air Jordan 1 is the latest retro silhouette to get dressed in Carolina Blue.
This pair features a Sail leather upper with Obsidian leather used on the toe, eyelets, ankle collar, and Swoosh. University Blue colors the ankle straps, heel, and "Nike Air" branding on each tongue tag.
Jordan Brand released a very similar colorway this past February to celebrate NBA All-Star weekend in Charlotte that featured patent leather panels in place of the tumbled leather seen on this pair.
The "Sail/Obsidian-University Blue" Air Jordan 1 is currently rumored to hit select retailers on August 17 for $160. Take a first look at the collegiate release below.
