The Nike Vaporfly has been long touted as one of the brand’s top-of-the-line running sneakers thanks to the combination of innovative ZoomX cushioning and a carbon fiber plate in the midsole for enhanced energy return. Now, the Swoosh has a new version of the shoe coming soon.
Shown here is the “Proto” iteration of the NikeVaporfly 3 that’s hitting retail early next month. The shoe features a new design on the Flyknit upper, while the technology featured in the tooling remains mostly unchanged. The midsole is equipped with responsive ZoomX foam and a full-length carbon fiber Flyplate embedded within.
According to the brand, this white-based “Proto” makeup pays tribute to the Nike Running team’s development journey, with the numbers on the midsole referencing the total amount of uppers the team tested along with a wear tester’s identification number.
“The Prototype colorway of the Vaporfly 3 is again a nod to our development process, where athlete and every day runner feedback critically informs and guides our innovation journey from start to finish,” Elliott Heath, the Nike Running senior footwear product manager, said.
Readers will be able to cop the “Proto” Nike Vaporfly 3 starting on March 6 at Nike.com and at select retailers for $250.
