Nike is honoring WNBA legend Lisa Leslie and her first-ever dunk in the league with a fitting Nike Dunk sneaker. The news was initially reported by Complex Sneakers in February, and now, official product shots have surfaced.
The “Lisa Leslie” Dunk Low colorway shown here is inspired by the team colors of the Los Angeles Sparks, the franchise that Leslie played for from 1997-2009. Leslie recorded the first dunk in the league’s history on July 30, 2002, and the release of this pair is intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the milestone.
The shoe wears a predominantly two-tone purple and gold leather upper, with teal covering the Swoosh branding. Leslie’s jersey number is also embroidered on the heel counter.
As of now, release details for this “Lisa Leslie” Dunk Low have not been announced by the brand.
UPDATE (06/28): A release date for the “Lisa Leslie” Dunk Low has been confirmed as the SNKRS calendar currently has the pair dropping via the app on July 9 for $130. Grab an official look at the shoe below.
