Let's keep it on wax.

In his opening round U.S. Open matchup tonight, Andy Murray got by Aussie Nick Kyrgios in 4 sets. He did so wearing adidas Barricade 8 sneakers, which is interesting considering he signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Under Armour last December.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, Murray was given permission to wear the sneakers by his previous endorser while Under Armour fine-tunes a proper hard court for the former US Open champion.

Following Murray's victory, Under Armour shared a celebratory graphic on Twitter, making sure to use an above-the-waist photo.

But that's when things heated up. Aware that the tennis star competed in one of its sneakers, adidas fired a quick shot at the rival brand.

Murray has been wearing adidas sneakers since August, after making his Wimbledon run in Under Armour. A mid-tournament change seems unlikely, so we may not see him wearing Under Armour on hard courts until next season.
