After years of unofficial endorsement, Travis Scott and Nike SB made it official in 2020 with his own Dunk collab. Better known behind the boards than on the ramp, Scott's skateboarding shoes placed him in a rare fraternity of musicians with their own SB Dunks. 

Debuting in JACKBOYS visuals and releasing at select skate shops months after, the materials and colorways used created a buzz around the Nike SB brand that it hadn't seen in a decade. The Air Force 1 has a compelling case for being the most important sneaker of all time. Reigning as relevant and even dominant for the better course of nearly four decades, the shoe has seen campaign backing from the likes of Rasheed Wallace, Jay-Z and Virgil Abloh.

While rap records, MoMA parties and fashion shows add esteem to the Air Force 1, Scott’s abstract reconstruction of the AF1 is stranger than most. The Travis Scott x Air Force 1 Low "Cactus Jack" reads like a deep cut off ASTROWORLD – there's odd homage to the past, there are textures that take multiple times to pick up on, and there's a carnival feel that wouldn't make sense if you weren't familiar with the artist.

People and places have often defined coveted Air Force 1s with trendy tones and heel embroidery easily attributing exactly what the theme was. Not these. Last year, Travis Scott used football's greatest spectacle, the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show, to debut his latest Jordan: the Travis Scott x Air Jordan VI.

Flying high off the success of his singles ASTROWORLD and "SICKO MODE," Scott's name was ringing off like never before. On top of his influence on the youth, fashion, and music, his relationship with Kylie Jenner made him a household name. 

In many ways, the Travis Scott x Air Jordan VI signifies Scott’s peak in fame. Ironically enough, they're arguably his most alternative Air Jordan collab.

Following the buzz of a series of photoshoot teases and the momentum from previous collaborations, the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low "Mocha" released without warning as a shock drop in July of 2019. 

And then never again.

Living up to its billing, the "Mocha" 1 Lows from Scott sold out at exponential speed on SNKRS and on Travis’ website. Fans were certain in the moment that more pairs or at least more colorways would come, but they never did. The purple pair has proved a unicorn even amongst the rare releases and coveted samples from Travis Scott and Jordan Brand. Much of that is because this colorway never hit retail.

Friends and family pairs produced by Jordan Brand have hit the hands of high-roller collectors and rap superstars, sporting Scott's styling atop a black and grey midsole. The Travis Scott x Air Jordan XXXIII NRG saw Jordan Brand’s technically advanced flagship model dipped in Travis Scott’s signature tones.

Merging La Flame's earthy aesthetic with MJ's airborne technology, the XXXIII collaboration made perfect sense for Space City's courtside ambassador. Limited in production and released at All-Star Weekend in Charlotte, the lace-less launch appeared on the feet of Travis in a major Jordan Brand campaign, as well as on the feet of brand ambassadors on the NBA hardwood. Travis Scott and Drake have linked up on "Company," "SICKO MODE," and "Portland."  They have also shown their hometown pride with special colorways of the Air Jordan IV. 

While Aubrey's homage to The 6 was very on the nose in regard to its local fandom, the "Cactus Jack" IV was a play off Travis' team as a tyke—the Houston Oilers.

Released at a Travis Scott x Jordan Brand Carnival right outside of where the Rockets play, fans from all over Texas flocked to the event for a chance to see Travis and score his first Jordan collab. Due to an uncontrollable turnout, the police had to shut down the event only minutes after Travis showed up. While the fairground style launch proved a movie in H-Town, the first retro release from La Flame and JB was a hit across the country as lucky raffle winners earned instant clout from coast to coast.

The Travis Scott x Nike Air Force 1 debuted at the second annual ComplexCon, before later hitting that holiday season, and set the tone for every La Flame footwear foray to come.

The shoe rocked replaceable Swooshes, Velcro patches, and upside-down heel branding, making the first collab from Travis and Nike as customizable as it gets. Its white canvas upper took well to dyeing at home and getting dirty at concerts—in many ways the utter opposite of what a white-on-white Air Force 1 long stood for.
