Vivienne Westwood delivers the next chapter in ASICS collaborative series, with a three-strong collection of ASICSTIGER styles.
2019 has been a big year for collaboration over at ASICS, with the revival of the GEL-KAYANO 5 OG bringing about the perfect set of opportunities for select designers to reframe the silhouette, and for many serve as their first real encounter with ASICS. We've seen the likes of GmbH, Ronnie Fieg, Hypebeast, and Vivienne Westwood put their stamp on the classic, with further collaborations set to arrive before the end of the year. By the looks of things, one collaboration wasn't quite enough as Westwood once again takes the spotlight with a trio of ASICSTIGER silhouettes decked out in high-fashion style.
For part of their collaborative series, both brand's look to Vivienne Westwood's later collections, exploring a series of historical-artistic and fashion references. Specific attention was paid to paintings of the 18th-century French artist François Boucher, which were reference by Westwood for Autumn/Winter 1990. The resulting collection sees the HyperGEL-LYTE, GELSAGA, and GEL-DS TRAINER OG RMB1050 decorated with period artwork in a variety of applications and colour combinations.
