If you're looking to get involved in the business of sneakers, there are a number of entry level options out there, but few of them will take you directly to a boardroom to create your own sneaker. That is, until now.

Foot Locker is partnering with Pensole, a sneaker design academy launched by former Jordan Brand designer D'Wayne Edwards, to give students a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a sneaker that could wind up on retail shelves. The "Fueling the Future of Footwear" competition will see 18 aspiring designers take a three-week course at Pensole to learn the ins and outs of sneaker design, emphasizing the academy's "learn by doing" ethos.

For the first venture, Foot Locker and Pensole are teaming with ASICS to create a new collection for the brand's heritage Tiger line. One lucky designer will be selected for the Foot Locker "Approved" seal, with his/her design eventually being sent to production and sold on Foot Locker shelves nationwide. As if that wasn't already a reason to apply, they'll be throwing in a $12,000 scholarship for the lucky winner.

The "Fueling the Future of Footwear" competition runs from July 13-July 31, with signups closing May 24. What are you waiting on? Click here to send that application in today.
