Late last year, runner heads were treated to a shimmering "Liquid Gold" Nike Air Max 1,  which have since become a target for resellers with Flight Club prices sitting around $375. If you aren't ready to drop that kind of coin, this new offering from ASICS isn't a bad consolation prize.

Using the popular Gel Lyte V silhouette as its base, these "Liquid Gold" ASICS feature a glossy gold treatment reminiscent of the AM1s. However, instead of giving the entire sneaker the liquid-dipped treatment, it's only present on the toe, side panels, and heel for these Gel Lyte Vs. The remainder, including the nubuck mudguard, neoprene sockliner, and laces are outfitted with a matte gold, adding a bit of contrast to the otherwise lustrous look.

We've also spotted a grainy preview of an accompanying "Liquid Silver" Gel Lyte III, which appears to go even harder on the glossy treatment. Save for its mesh split tongue, the entire silo has been given a glistening silver coating. You can check the Gel Lyte IIIs out below.

There aren't many details available for either of these, but we can confirm that the sneakers pictured are in sample stages. Don't be surprised if a few tweaks are made before these "Liquid" ASICS hit shelves.
