Plans for a Star Wars Disney+ series focused on Lando Calrissian were revealed back in 2020, and now Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has provided an update on its status.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Kennedy was asked about what’s happening with Lando, which was previously reported to be in development from Dear White People writer-director Justin Simien. Glover portrayed a younger version of the Billy Dee Williams–originated character in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, but it appears he’s got enough work on his plate to keep Lando in limbo for now.

“You need to ask Donald,” Kennedy said when asked about the project’s status. “He's the one that holds all the cards here. But there's no movement. I will say that honestly. But it's not for lack of trying. It's just that he's a very busy guy. ... He's got another series, and I think one other thing, and then he'll come our way. So, patiently waiting."

Glover recently wrapped filming on Seasons 3 and 4 of Atlanta, and he’s currently hard at work on his Amazon Prime series Mr. & Mrs. Smith, based off the 2005 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie film. Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge—also Donald’s Solo co-star—was set to lead the show but dropped out due to creative differences.

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this year, Glover was asked about his continuing involvement in Star Wars and remained tight-lipped. “Am I?” he said when told he’s reprising his role in Lando. “I have a lot of things. I like to blossom then go away. Right now is definitely the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I've been working on, but I just want it all to come out at the same time, so I feel like that's what's important."

While Lando still isn’t on the calendar, Star Wars Celebration over the weekend revealed trailers and updates about August’s Rogue One spinoff AndorThe Mandalorian Season 3Ahsoka, the video game sequel Jedi: Survivor, newly announced shows, and more.
