Some Cool Indie Directors Want to Remake 'White Chicks' as an Oscar-Worthy Drama

"It would be about gender and race relations in the 21st century, starring the Wayans Brothers."

Remember White Chicks? It’s the Wayans Brothers movie where Shawn and Marlon go undercover as Paris Hilton-a-likes, with prosthetics and everything. It’s only got 15% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it is generally regarded as being crass, unfunny, and politically a bit dubious (but Terry Crews is in it, so it’s not all bad).

Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan are a new directing duo who, after making plenty of cool music videos, have been getting hype for their Sundance-indie-hit debut Swiss Army Man, where Paul Dano washes up on a desert island, with only Daniel Radcliffe’s corpse for company. With that buzz, they’re starting to get linked to higher-profile projects. So, with that going down, what would they love to do next? Kwan told The Hollywood Reporter:

Yeah. Um, ok. Tbh honest, he’s right, the idea of two black guys having to pose as white women does offer the potential to say a lot about race and gender. But we’ll beleive it when we see it.
