Samantha Bee Spoofs Roseanne’s Racist Tweets With Faux Ambien Commercial

Samantha Bee shares her ad for Ambien: "Don't take Ambien if you've ever asked 'when will there be a white history month?'"

Samantha Bee hits the nail on the political head once again. This time around she's going after Roseanne Barr who blamed the sleeping pill Ambien for her racist tweets against former Obama aide, Valerie Jarrett.

"If sleeping through the night feels like a faraway dream, try Ambien, the prescription sleep aid that helps you get a good nights rest and possibly makes you more racist," says a narrator in a faux ad created for Full Frontal With Samantha Bee. "I mean, you were already racist but maybe Ambien made it worse?"

The narrator continues: "Until you know how Ambien will affect you, you shouldn't drive in urban areas, operate heavy machinery, or visit a Starbucks. Don't take Ambien if you've ever asked 'When will there be a white history month?' used the phrase 'I'm not racist but...,' or if you previously tweeted racist things that your boss forgot about." As the latter reason is heard, another racist tweet from Barr about Susan Rice from Dec. 2013 appears on the screen.

"Certain extremely not rare side effects include clutching your purse as a person of color walks by, deciding to move "upstate," threatening to call ICE, actually calling ICE, working for ICE, sleepwalking to The Source Awards in search of a 'black friend' to prove you aren't racist." (It would have been pretty hard to do that last one if they went in 1995.)

Bee isn't the only one coming for Roseanne's excuse for the racist tweet. Sanofi, the company who creates Ambien, also threw some shade. "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication," read their tweet. Sometimes racism is just...racism.
