Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish have another No. 1 movie on their hands.
Deadline reportsNight School brought in $28 million in its first weekend, the highest for a 2018 comedy film. Although early predictions estimated Night School would make $30 million, it still easily beats the other genre's other opening weekend totals. This includes Blockers' $20 million and Game Night's $17 million.
"The people are going and the people are loving it," said Hart in a video posted on Saturday. "Don't let these critics and all this other shit get to you. It's about the people. And the people fucking love it." Before Night School's premiere, Hart went into a lengthy, defensive speech on Haddish's behalf on The Breakfast Club after Katt Williams criticzed her. Night School also holds a 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
He continued the celebration in his video caption: "Words can't explain how fucking happy I am right now....I am nothing without your support people....Thank you for believing in me & riding with me!!!!!"
Haddish, who starred in the uber-successful Girls Trip, also posted a video of celebration during the weekend where she "skipped to success" in a hair bonnet.
"Thank you to everyone that has seen Night School and who will See Night Shool[sic]. Much Love!" read the caption.
Night School—which also features Taran Killam, Fat Joe, Yvonne Orji, Ben Schwartz, Anne Winters, Megalyn Echikunwoke, and Rob Riggle—is out in theaters now.
