Before Ant-Man and the Wasp teamed up to represent their respective insects on screen, there was The Fly.
But now, Ant-Man may have another partner—courtesy of Funny or Die. The site released a video which mashes up footage from the Ant-Man sequel and 1986's The Fly with Jeff Goldblum. "The Wasp is dust and Ant-Man is looking for a new sidekick. Luckily for him, The Fly (Jeff Goldblum) is available," reads the caption of the clip.
Similar to the Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer, Scott Lang's daughter tells him he needs "someone watching [his] back," but this time it's the Fly who receives the call. "What are you doing?" asks Lang. "I'm working on something that will change the world," answers Goldblum's mad scientist character, Seth Brundle.
Even Michael Douglas' Hank Pym gets in on the act as he calls their team-up the "only chance [they] got." Right afterward, Brundle says, "What are we waiting for? Let's do it." The rest of the clip shows Ant-Man in his suit while Brundle disgustingly turns into the Brundlefly (nail peeling and vomiting digestive enzymes included.)
While it's unlikely this team-up would ever actually come true (although stranger things have happened), Ant-Man may meet another one of Goldblum's characters in the future. The Jurassic Park actor was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Grandmaster in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. And he already kind of confirmed that his character survived Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet snap.
"Grandmaster is more superheroed than all of them put together," he told Digital Spy earlier this year. "You can't kill me, I'm like a vampire. I'm deathless and I can kill people by looking at them. Or I can resurrect them just by looking at them and thinking of them. I can do everything. Being able to do all of that, all I want to do is play games. So really I'm everywhere and nowhere. I'm like Keyser Söze."
As we wait for Rudd and Goldblum's charm to take the screen in the MCU together, check out Funny or Die's mashup above. (There's also the news about Rudd playing the lead roles in Netflix's Living With Yourself. Swoon.)
