The Gentlemen, out next month, just dropped a new and very Guy Ritchie-y trailer.
The dark crime comedy stars Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, and more. Ritchie, as usual, also penned the script.
Catch The Gentlemen in theaters starting Jan. 24.
Per the film's official synopsis, Ritchie fans can expect McConaughey’s character Mickey Pearson—described as a wealthy player in London’s weed industry—thrown into a haphazard situation when word starts to trickle out that he’s planning to cash out of the business for good.
Ritchie previously heralded The Gentlemen as a "return to my roots," with the writer/director pointing out that he didn't have to "explain things" to the cast. "They got the joke," he toldTotal Film.
Ritchie specifically shouted out Grant, who's noticeably playing the opposite of his usual character selections. "I think Hugh Grant is a better actor than Hugh Grant thinks he is," he said. "Now, he hasn't said that to me, but I am immensely confident of his ability, his intelligence, and the roles which he takes."
Ritchie's most recent film was the live-action revisiting of Disney's Aladdin, starring Mena Massoud and Will Smith. Though certainly not indicative of the usual Ritchie branding of comedic crime and whatnot, the movie went on to make more than $1 billion at the global box office.
