Celebrated director and screenwriter John Singleton reportedly remains on life support after recently suffering a major stroke.
Early Monday, The Hollywood Reporter said that rep Shannon Barr had confirmed the Boyz n the Hood director was still on life support amid contradictory reports from smaller outlets.
In a previous statement, FX—which backs Singleton's Snowfall—wished the series co-creator a quick recovery. "We are sad to learn the news of John's condition, but we know he's a fighter," a network rep said. "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at FX and his Snowfall family are with him and we are hopeful for a complete and speedy recovery."
Later Monday, a family spokesperson shared a statement with Deadlinesaying that Singleton would soon be taken off of life support. "It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, father, and friend, John Daniel Singleton will be taken off of life support today," the spokesperson said. "This was an agonizing decision, one that our family made, over a number of days, with the careful counsel of John’s doctors."
